I love reporting posts as slop on LinkedIn. Will those posters be banned?

I love LinkedIn’s “SEEMS LIKE AI SLOP” feature!!! I’m having so much fun with it. I spent the whole day searching for posts with an em-dash or the word “quietly” and reported every single one.

 Those people will get banned from LinkedIn, right? I hope so!

Sorry to disappoint you, but your overzealous use of this feature isn’t going to get anyone banned. At least not yet.

Reporting a post as AI slop does not remove the post from the platform or sanction the creator. It will remove the post from your feed and may suppress reach of the post outside the poster’s own network. You win, and the poster loses. Congratulations.

But not everyone is as excited about this as you are. Many worry about bias and abuse. Others push back on the premise itself: AI and slop aren’t the same thing. A post can be AI-assisted and original. At the same time, a post can be 100% human-created and still be garbage. The button doesn’t allow for that, and it sounds like you don’t either.

When you use your list of AI tells to judge a post, you’re losing sight of fundamental content principles. Your question shouldn’t be “Does this post look like AI slop?” It should be “Does this post say something meaningful?”
